Monthly Mix: July

This month's mix was heavily influenced by my impending trip to Seattle and the evening runs I've been taking in preparation for that 5K I spoke of before.
  1. Old Pine – Ben Howard
  2. Heartbeats – José González
  3. Small Town Moon – Regina Spektor
  4. Take Our Turn – The J Band
  5. Something Good Can Work – Two Door Cinema Club
  6. It's Time – Imagine Dragons
  7. Man On Fire – Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros
  8. Between Two Lungs – Florence + The Machine
  9. The Fear – Ben Howard
  10. Pumped Up Kicks – Foster the People
  11. Six Weeks – Of Monsters and Men
  12. Demons – Imagine Dragons
  13. Sweeter – Gavin DeGraw
  14. Going On – Gnarls Barkley
  15. Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall – Coldplay
  16. The Party – Regina Spektor
  17. Some Nights – fun.
  18. 1901 – Phoenix
  19. Your Ex-Lover Is Dead – Stars
  20. World At Large – Modest Mouse
For some reason, I always thought that workout playlists should consist of a lot of rock and your general LET'S-GET-PUMPED music, but I've found that I enjoy it more when I listen to more mellow music (like I do all of the time anyway). Lately, I've had my Pandora set to a mix of Ben Howard, Regina Spektor, Gavin DeGraw, and Of Monsters and Men.

Speaking of, a few days ago when Amazon was having some crazy 99¢ sale on recently released albums, I bought Of Monsters and Men's My Head Is An Animal because I loved "Little Talks" (and, I mean, it was only 99¢), and I am very pleased with it. Also, after my friend Alissa talking about them incessantly and hearing "It's Time" in The Perks of Being a Wallflower trailer, I downloaded Imagine Dragons's EP, and it is fantastic as well.

New music is the best thing. Well, maybe not the best for my bank account, but whatever.

P.S. Since we're on the subject of music, you should watch this video.

I don't like to listen to GET PUMPED RAH WORKING OUT music either. Just what I normally listen to. Good music always makes runs more pleasant!

That's amazing that the whole album was only 99 cents! Why was I not aware of this sale?! Haha.

And yes, that video is pure gold.

Some Night is also on my summer playlist! Given I rarely work out as of late, I'm not sure what music I'd listen to. I know when I had to run junior year for tennis I had a mix of mellow Death Cab for Cutie and more pumped up Florence + the Machine. That seemed to work for me. (I wish I could still run like I did then. Damn.)

THAT VIDEO IS TRUTH.

Hahaha, the guys in that video have everyone's feelings about that song down to a tee. It's just one of those songs that, even though you don't want to hear it, you end up listening to it anyway, and eventually sing along. (I, sadly, was doing it with them.)

That's a good playlist! My selection uses ranges from the classical/jazzy/80s, although a few newbies pop up from time to time.

ps: meant to comment on this way back, but your blog layout is so nice!
