9/11

Every September 11th, you can feel it. There's a subtle shift in the atmosphere. Even on campus, everyone seems a little subdued. The halls are a little bit quieter. All around town, flags are half-mast and signs are posted telling everyone to remember. As if we could forget even if we wanted to.

When I visited New York nearly two years ago, one thing I was most adamant about seeing was the 9/11 memorial. The museum was still under construction, but the memorial had officially opened on the tenth anniversary. Keren and I went late one evening, and it was absolutely beautiful. A wonderful tribute to those gone too soon. If you're ever in New York, you must go.
